Gratitude

Fall is here, and the holidays are upon us. Of all the holidays, my favorite is Thanksgiving Day!

For me, Thanksgiving is the one holiday, I am able to guiltlessly set aside the hustle and bustle of my daily life. I take the whole day, together with family and friends, to pause and reflect on my blessings and to express gratitude.

As I look back on the past year, I am able to see, not only the obvious gifts, but the gifts, disguised as challenges, that have been opportunities to expand my life and grow.  I did not like these challenges, but I realize that without them, I would never move from my comfort zone.

There are so many things I am grateful for. . . I have told you that I write aGratitude List each day, In doing so I become much more aware of my gifts. They are abundant! But, and here is the stumbling block, one needs to pay attention and  be aware of daily blessings, or else they might pass unnoticed.

This year, Thanksgiving is special. My my three children are coming to celebrate the holiday with me.  That hasn’t happened in a long while because they were living in other countries but now they are closer and able to visit.

I know that you, like myself, have been given so much.  What is you set aside a few moments to think what you are most thankful for?  I am sure you will be surprised.

I am including the  link to St. Paul’s Choir singing, “The Beauty of the Earth.”   It seems the perfect musical  background setting for listing one’s many gifts. Enjoy!
