“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars.”
Anomyous
I love this quote! If only I could shoot for the moon and then be glad to land wherever.
Instead, I often find it is hard to get a project completed and ready to go. Even a small project can seem overwhelming and takes me endless time.
The main reason I become overwhelmed is that I tend towards being a perfectionist. I know in my heart that perfectionism never works. But still, I try to get my work done perfectly. The result is lots of anxiety and delay!
Since perfection is unattainable, I am working on giving each project my best shot, letting go of the outcome, and shooting for the moon!
Who knows if I will reach my target? But, surely I will reach farther than I am now!
What about you . . .?
Do you have a project you need to get done but is not completed?
Do you know what holds you back?
Have you been delayed by perfectionism or any other reason?
What could you do differently in order to be ready to shoot?
If the worst thing that could happen is to land among the stars rather than reaching the moon, could that work for you?

I have been thinking about my goals for the coming year. I have identified the one thing that I most want to accomplish.
The one thing that would make the greatest difference in my personal and professional life is something I have avoided dealing with forever, and that is, to get rid of clutter in every area of my life.
Clutter has been controlling me for years. I have ignored the challenge, but now is the time to face it.
I know that unless I conquer my clutter addiction, there will be no peace or harmony for me.
You may think that my goal to clear my clutter is simple, but believe me, it is not! The task is a monumental especially since my “cluttering” has been going on for years.
I am creating a plan with lots of mini goals to get me to bring the simplicity I long for into my life. I know the resulting physical and mental space will be truly amazing!
I have written down my goal and am fully committed to taking action You are my witness and can hold me accountable.
What about you?
What keeps you stuck?
What is your one thing that would make a big difference in moving your life forward this year?
You know what it is.
Will you commit to making it a goal?
We are each uniqe and our challenges are different.
Think of how your life could change if you committed to a goal that would make a great difference for you.
“Never mind what others do; do better than yourself, beat your own record from day to day, and you are a success.”</em>

I always spend New Year’s Day first thinking about the past year, where I was and everything I am grateful for.
Next, I think about the coming year, where I want to go.
This year I decided to get another perspective on goal setting by reading Stephen Covey’s book, First Things First.
In his book, Covey asked two really important questions: which I am still
pondering:
“What is the one activity that you know if you did superbly well and consistently would have significant positive results in your personal life”?
“What is the one activity that you know if you did superbly well and consistently would have significant positive results in your professional or work life”?
Those are tough questions. If I answer them honestly, I have to admit that I am not doing them. Why not?
Evidently, I need to go back to the drawing board to concentrate on what is most important for me to accomplish this year instead of being sidetracked.
I don’t want to squander my days and miss the mark . . .
“But what does it matter how much we do if what we’re doing isn’t what matters most”?
What about you? Have you made your resolutions?
Are you answering Covey’s questions honestly? If not, why not?
You are the only person who can set goals for yourself.
Best wishes in creating 2011 as your best year ever!
